Dear friend,

We’ve always felt that the Renaissance Society is at its best when it serves as an engine for artistic production. By that measure, 2016 has been an incredible year, with every exhibition featuring a new commission, from Peter Wächtler’s Secrets of a Trumpet to Sadie Benning’s current installation, Shared Eye.

Kevin Beasley, whose performance and installation, Your face is/is not enough, was commissioned for Between the Ticks of the Watch, says about developing his new project:

“The experience I had working with Solveig and the staff still resonates in my daily studio practice by setting such a high benchmark for exploration. The Ren cultivates an invaluably rich context by how it continues to push artists, challenge its audience, and give life to fresh ideas.”

Contributions of any size are critical to maintaining our unique status as an independent, agile, and risk-taking platform for contemporary art. On this #GivingTuesday, I hope you will consider making a donation to the Renaissance Society.

You might also become a member or shop our books and editions, which are other great ways to support the Ren—our Book Club membership in particular makes a wonderful holiday gift for art book lovers!

With gratitude,
The team at the Ren
